Meet the 2010-2011 CEI Interns!

Rebecca Curwin is a rising sophomore in the College from Morristown, NJ. She is majoring International Relations, and hopes to pursue a minor in Creative Writing. At Penn, Rebecca enjoys checking out the Philadelphia restaurant scene with her friends and taking runs by the Schuykill. During the summer, you can find her soaking in her guilty pleasure – the Jersey shore. A member of Delta Delta Delta, Rebecca is excited to get involved in the CEI program.

Charlotte Edelson is a sophomore in the College, hoping to pursue a History major and Classics minor. On campus, Charlotte is a member of the Sigma Delta Tau sorority and participates in the West Philadelphia Tutoring Project. When listening to her music on shuffle, Charlotte occasionally chants along to her Torah portion (from her Bat Mitzvah seven years ago). Charlotte is very excited about participating in the CEI program.

Four foot eleven, Morgan Finkelstein is
She's pumped to get in the CEI biz.
From Under the Button to PennSamba drums
She's always down to have good ol' Penn fun.
She reps Student Gov being on NEC
(the Nominations and Elections Committee).
When she's got a spare moment she just likes to bro
Out with her sisters in Alpha-Chi-O.
Hails from Sarasota, where everyone's old
A true Floridian, she's always real cold.
But Philly's the best, no matter what you do
Especially for this super-excited Jew!

Sam Gorski is hardly just another Jersey Boy.  Born in Voorhees and raised in Lawrenceville (outside Princeton), he had a singular focus in life: get OUT of the suburbs.  Coming to the University of Pennsylvania, Sam did just that.  During the coming year, he hopes to spread Judaism to Penn students in a more social way.

Alex Gradwohl is a rising sophomore in the college of arts and sciences where she is planning on majoring in history with a minor in classics. Coming from Ann Arbor, Michigan, she is a huge fan of U of M football (even if they've had a bad couple of seasons). On campus, Alex is a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, plays club field hockey and is involved with SPEC's Spring Fling committee. She loves iced vanilla lattes and anything with a floral print. Alex is very excited about being a part of the CEI program this year!

Alex Haber is a rising sophomore who grew up where seemingly every other Jew at Penn spent his/her childhood- WESTCHESTER, NY!  Aside from his far from unique upbringing, Alex is a die hard Jets and Lord of the Rings fan- interesting combo, no?  Outside of CEI, Alex is involved in Model United Nations, The Shabbatones (UPenn’s Jewish a capella group), and the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.  To finish off this odd assortment of hobbies and interests, Alex is also big into composing orchestral music and hopes to write an anthology of poems by graduation.  Oh, and he’s most likely going to be a Political Science major- can’t forget about that whole “academic” component to collegiate life…

Max Linder is a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences and is from Westchester, NY.  He loves politics and will likely major in political science.  He would also like to minor in Legal Studies and History, but might be too lazy to get on that.  Max loves sports and is an avid Yankees fan.  He particularly enjoyed being in Philadelphia when the Phillies lost to the Yankees in the World Series.  On campus, Max is in the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and is a member of Penn Model Congress.  Max is very excited to work in the CEI program and is looking forward to creating a fun Jewish community at Penn.

Hannah Littman is a rising sophomore in the College.  She is undecided as to what her major is, but she has plans to go to law school.  Hannah hails from New Rochelle, New York, a town slightly north of New York City.  Hannah loves running, reading books and trying new restaurants in Philly.  She went to Solomon Schechter Day School through eighth grade, so she grew up with a strong Jewish background.  As a representative from Kappa Alpha Theta, Hannah is very excited to add to the already buzzing Jewish community at Penn.

My name is Nick Mishkin, and I am a rising sophomore in the College.  I plan on majoring in both Music and Economics.  I have been playing piano for 5 years, voice for 2 years, composition for 4 years, and guitar for 3 days.  I started a band at Penn, in which I write the music, the band-name is undecided.  I love Judaism, and I believe that the ideals of Judaism lead to a happy, successful life style.

I am Caroline Prebul, and I am a sophomore in the College. I hope to pursue a career in nursing, and I love contributing to community service programs. I grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and I have played golf competitively for twelve years. I enjoy playing piano, traveling, and spending time with my family. As a member of SDT and CEI, I am very excited to become more involved in the jewish life at Penn.

Ethan Ross is from Westchester, New York (yes the same place as half of the people you meet at Penn and a third of the CEIs). He is in the College and is interested in Philosophy and Economics but is undecided for a major. Ethan is a member of Penn for Youth Debate and an Assistant Social Chair for Zeta Beta Tau. He is excited to go to Israel on a Birthright trip and to explore Judaism through the CEI program.

Beryl Sanders is a sophomore in the College, double majoring in History and English. She is from Armonk, New York, and her biggest disappointment at Penn is that it is impossible to find a great bagel in Philadelphia. She is a member of the Alpha Phi sorority, a tour guide and ambassador for the admissions office, the Membership Director of Penn Democrats, the School of Arts and Sciences Representative on the 2013 Class Board, and a member of SPEC Connaissance. She also likes to volunteer in Philadelphia with the very little free time she has!

Jason Schneider is a rising sophomore from Roslyn, New York. He plans on pursuing a dual degree between Wharton and the College, studying both healthcare management and biology. In addition to participating in CEI, Jason is in Alpha Epsilon Pi and works with MERT and DRT on campus. As an avid NY Mets and Giants fan Jason has recently found it painful to live in Philadelphia.

Jake Shuster is a sophomore from New York City, like everyone else at Penn.  He plans to major in Economics and Urban Studies and minor in French.  At Penn, he is in Skulls, on the board of PennDems and a UA member.  As an avid Mets fan he can often be found sulking after one of their horrible losses.  He loves Curb Your Enthusiasm and Gossip Girl (don't make fun), and is really excited for the upcoming year as a CEI intern!
