The Marjorie M. and Irwin Nat Pincus JRP Fellowship
The Pincus JRP Fellowship is a paid fellowship that facilitates an open environment for dedicated students to answer their own complex intellectual and spiritual questions. In addition, Pincus JRP Fellows create opportunities for their friends to engage in similar dialogues by planning "salon" style events around Penn's campus throughout the year.
Did you come out of Hebrew school bored and having learned nothing? Are you totally confused, intimidated or ambivalent about Judaism?
The Pincus JRP Fellowship is a yearlong fellowship in which participants form a unique Jewish community in order to wrestle with what it means to be Jewish in our contemporary global society. Pincus JRP Fellows also enhance Jewish life on campus by planning and implementing Jewish-themed events for their friends and the greater Penn community.
What's involved:
- Attend weekly meetings (Wednesdays, 7 - 8:30pm) during which we will discuss major Jewish themes and issues that relate to your life
- Manage a generous budget and host 2-3 events and/or reach at least 30 people through those events (each semester)
- Attend an overnight retreat during NSO/before classes begin in the Fall
- Receive a $400 stipend ($200 each semester)
If you have any questions, please contact Rabbi Josh Bolton, jbolton@jrp.com.
"We meet one night a week with a group of awesome Jewish kids, just like me. We discuss Jewish topics that are relevant to us today and we also host events for our Jewish friends on campus."
"JRP has provided me the opportunity to share and discuss Judaism with my Jewish friends. They've enjoyed attending events and engaging in conversation on topics that so many Penn students usually don't give enough thought to."
"I've met a lot of great new friends through the Fellows group itself. The retreat facilitated instant bonding, and we've really gotten to know each other through our deep discussions every week."
"The Pincus JRP Fellowship helps me to see how Jewish life fits in the 21st century. We get the opportunity to share what we have learned with friends outside of the Fellowship and become liaisons to people who are interested in learning more."
